God Races in the Sunshine

Well, the closing line of my previous post said "May God race with me.". I truly feel like God raced with me on Saturday. Throughout the race I felt God with me. From quieting my mind to helping me deal with the physical pain a body feels when stressing it like I did, I know God was racing with me.

So how did I do? I beat my PR (Personal Record) by almost 40 minutes. I finished the 70.3 mile race in 5:55:51(1.2 mile swim, 56 mile bike, 13.1 mile run). I am SO pleased with my performance. Ironman California had many challenges that it placed before me. But in all, I left Oceanside absolutely excited to beat this personal record on my next race!

I will be writing more about my experiences during the race a little later. So please stay tuned.

Once again, congrats on meeting your goal. But I know you aren't one to rest on such an accomplishment, but to set new, more difficult goals. With that in mind, which aspect of the tri do you think you might be able to improve on most?

Thanks,
My coach and I are meeting tonight to set new goals for Vineman. Vineman is in Guernville CA on July 30th. We ae setting new weight goals and new goals for each leg of the race.

I should have swam about 10 Minutes faster. My T1 was about 4 Minutes too long. If I drop more weight I could have shaved about 15 minutes off the bike. The hill ate me up. My T2 was about 1 minute too long. With additional weight loss and more speed training I coud have shaved about 10 minutes off the run. So I could have shaved an additional 40 minutes off this time and been at 5:10:00. I am going for a win in my category. This will be the discussion ith my coach anyway.

July 30th, eh? I'm going on vacation the week after up in Humboldt County and Guernville isn't to far out of the way.

I'll plan to go out there and see you race that weekend before my trip! Sweet.

I believe you can drop the necessary weight and re-org your workout where as you will shave off that time.

Four months of hard work ought to have you prepared to do so.

I met with my coach tonight. He wants to see me drop 15 pounds and try and race a sub 5 hour race.
